White or purplish, stretch marks are present among most of us. While it is impossible to completely erase these marks, there are a few tricks to reduce them.

Stretch marks: what are they?

Stretch marks are body scars resulting from the tearing of the skin’s elastic fibers because of excessive tension.

Among women, they appear mainly on the chest, thighs, butt or stomach. Among men, it is more likely to occur in the areas of the arms or back.

When they first appear, stretch marks are red or purplish in colour, due to inflammation of the broken fibers. It is at this precise moment that it is easier to fade them away. Once mature, these small, elongated striae will become white, but that does not mean they will be invisible.

What causes them to appear?

Stretch marks generally appear during three characteristic moments in life, in which the skin is weakened and tends to stretch suddenly and excessively:

– growth

– pregnancy

– rapid weight gain

Nevertheless, we are not all equal in front of this phenomenon. Indeed, some skins are genetically more fragile than others, and are therefore more prone to stretch marks.

How can they be reduced?

Scrub

In order to eliminate dead cells and improve the aspect of your epidermis, it is advisable to perform a body scrub. Incorporating this ritual on a weekly basis into your routine will help improve the relief of your skin over time.

Once a week, apply our homemade Gentle Scrub with Shea and Himalayan Salt. For a soft and smooth skin!

Hydration and Massage

It is important to moisturize your skin daily so that it retains its elasticity and suppleness. At the same time, remember to massage the areas that are prone to stimulate the production of collagen fibers. This ritual helps to prevent the appearance of stretch marks by preventing your dermis from being weakened.

Know that our 100% Pure Shea Butter is your best ally! Gorged with moisturizing and nourishing active ingredients, it restores suppleness to your skin. Its unctuous texture is perfectly adapted for a message in all comfort.

Drink water

This trick seems obvious, and yet many of us neglect it… Water is an essential element for our body: it makes up 60% of it anyway! By drinking enough, you will strengthen the skin cells, as well as the elasticity of your skin.

In addition to the water provided by a diet high in fruit and vegetables, remember to drink 1.5 liters of water a day. Tisane, tea, aromatic waters … There is something for every test!

Avoid sun exposure

The sun is one of the main causes of premature skin aging. As the skin ages, it naturally loses elasticity: this is known as tissue slackening.

And lack of elasticity means stretch marks… So, to minimize their appearance, try to expose yourself as little as possible. If you still choose to let the sun kiss your skin, do not forget to protect it with a high index sun cream.

But before you do, remember to prepare your skin! To find out how to do this, click here.

You now have all the cards in hand to fade your stretch marks!
