Scars appear after various traumas undergone by the skin and can cause complexes. Although it is impossible to make your scars disappear completely without surgery, we are giving you our advice to minimize them with natural treatments.

What is a scar?

The skin is made up of several layers that protect it from external aggressions. When it is damaged, the dermis, located under the epidermis, is affected. Healing is then a process of skin repair whose final result is the scar. This scar takes its final appearance after 18 months and is made up of a more fragile skin.

Accident, surgery or acne, there are many causes of a scar and these determine its appearance: it can be large or small, deep or inflated, bright or dark. Even though there is no miracle cure to completely remove a scar, some solutions exist to make it less visible.

How to minimize its appearance?

First of all, if the scar is recent, you should avoid exposing it to the sun without protection because it may mark your skin even more. Therefore, always remember to apply sunscreen with a high SPF.

Then, the best thing to do to reduce its visibility is to moisturize the skin while massaging it daily. This will smooth and maintain the elasticity of the skin and stimulate blood circulation. Massage should be practiced for 5 to 10 minutes a day in circular motions without putting too much pressure on the scar. There are several ways to carry out the massage:

Several essential oils, such as lavender or geranium essential oil, have healing and repairing properties. You can also choose a vegetable oil rich in vitamin E that will nourish while fostering cell regeneration. For example, rose hip oil and avocado oil are ideal to reduce stretch marks.

Shea Butter

Rich in vitamins A, E, D and F, our 100% pure Shea Butter nourishes, moisturizes and softens the skin and helps healing. Thus, apply a knob of it directly on your scar every night and massage gently for a few minutes.

However, if your scars bother you and you are not succeeding in reducing them with these natural treatments, it is possible to make them disappear completely with surgery or a laser treatment.
